- George Ryder
Red Belly Copywriting is the company name for George Ryder, a freelance Senior Copy Writer by day and fiction novel writer by night.
When working with George on his new identity we explored what his values are, what he believes in and how he perceives himself as a writer. I wanted to get to the essence of George and convey that in my ideas and the visuals that I designed.
Brands are desperate to get their message across but only have a few moments before a reader loses interest. George’s mission is to help brands know what to say, how to say it and figure out why they’re saying it.
His values focus on that his words should be effortless and enjoyable for the reader. He aims to inform, educate and get results. He believes that the creative process should be fun, because if creativity isn’t fun then we’re not doing it right.
Fun is a key word in Georges identity. When searching for a name, George wanted to find something that represented his writing style, ethos and energy. George is half Brazilian which gave him a starting point and he quickly realised that the Red Belly Piranha shares very similar characteristics when hunting as George does with his writing style.
Keeping fun and approachability at the forefront of the visual identity, I used a bold, round and friendly font coupled with a fresh and vibrant colour palette (a juxtaposition to an actual piranha). The logo marque and graphic devices are constructed from letter characters. I wanted the viewer to see that this is what Red Belly does best, words.
